Collaborations
Erin’s art practice thrives on mutual collaboration with other artists, from interior designers to floral designers and metalsmiths. These collaborations continually help refine and redefine Erin’s work,
The Fold Collection
Erin Hupp x Goldstories Jewelry
What began as a signature hand-thrown ceramic plate has now evolved into an elegant fusion of art and adornment. Erin Hupp first created her Fold ink texture plate as the top of her two-piece caviar server—one of the longest-standing pieces in her collection. The Fold plate later found its way into fine dining, commissioned by Chef Alex Hong for his Michelin-starred restaurant, Sorrel, in San Francisco.
Its journey continued when Erin transformed the Fold plate into a striking Portal Mirror for an installation at the 7x7 Gallery. It was there that Subikksha of Goldstories Jewelry first encountered the piece, captivated by its form. Seeing its potential beyond ceramics, she imagined it as a ring—a vision that sparked a creative partnership.
Now, the Fold plate has taken on new life as a jewelry collection, seamlessly blending Erin's sculptural aesthetic with Subikksha’s refined metalwork. The result is a series of necklaces, earrings, and rings that honor the organic beauty of ceramics while embracing the elegance of fine jewelry. This collaboration is a testament to the enduring nature of design, where form transcends medium and art becomes wearable.
“Knot” a Hook
Erin Hupp x Windy Chien
Erin’s collaboration with sculptor Windy Chien began with a Knot Arch hook created for J.B. Blunk's 100 Hooks' exhibition in Point Reyes, California. After the exhibition, Erin and Windy created a limited edition set of hooks, titled “Knot a Hook” as a celebration of their collaboration and the evolution in each of their art practices.
Erin hand makes the backbone of the Knot Hook on her potter’s wheel — a round, solid bracelet-shape on her pottery wheel — reminiscent of the clay bracelets adorning Erin’s iconic bracelet vases. She then alters it into an arch and attaches two functional hooks. Windy utilizes the repetitive structure of a single, exquisite knot as she sculpts two chords of color onto the arch. Windy’s work is often monochromatic to highlight the journey of the line through the knots and to accentuate the intricate path woven by the line through the knots. However in this this collaboration Erin and Windy let two main colors speak to each other in a playful way, evoking the “rule of thirds” often used in photography in their representation of color.
Erin and Windy’s Limited Edition “Knot a Hook” will launch on June 1st, 2024.
Ink Texture Server + Glass Caviar
Erin Hupp x Jason Stropko
Erin’s collaboration with glassblower Jason Stropko is rooted in a common ground of culinary art and features Jason’s translucent oversized salmon roe eggs and golden osetra caviar eggs nestled inside Erin’s Ink Texture caviar server. The playful renditions of caviar, when combined with Erin’s Ink Texture Caviar Server together create a focal centerpiece for the home. As always, Erin’s caviar server can be used in many ways for a beautiful caviar service. Caviar is a rare indulgence, enjoyed only a few times a year. Between uses and celebrations, the server and eggs are exquisite focal pieces for the home.
